The STU-2000 is rated at 2,000 watts maximum. It features a heavy-duty cord with a standard US 3-prong plug plus a free American to German outlet plug adapter. There are a total of three outputs on the front panel. Two are grounded outputs, one designated for 120 volts with a US standard outlet, the other for 220 volts only with a universal outlet. The last one is a 5V standard USB jack, a unique feature of the STU series & 1st in the industry. And most importantly, all three outputs can be used simultaneously & continuously.
For safety, it's recommended by the manufacturer that the voltage transformer's maximum power should be equal or greater than the power rating of your appliance multiplied by 1.5. For example, if you have an appliance rated at 100 watts, you will need to pick a transformer with a maximum power of 150 watts or greater.

Fast delivery, smells when operated

The converter was delivered faster than announced. Since I had one converter of the same type before, I know that it is reliable and easy to operate. My European electronic devices run very well with this voltage converter.The new converter smells when it is operated. I hope that this is because it is new and hope that it will be over after a short time.

Does not convert the frequency 50Hz to 60Hz!

I purchased the STU-2000 voltage transformer in the spring of 2010 and so far I am happy with it except one thing: It doesn't convert the frequency from 50Hz to 60Hz (and I am assuming, that the situation would be the same if you need conversion from 60Hz to 50Hz.)So, as a result what you get is 110V/50Hz instead of 110/60Hz if the input voltage is 220V/50Hz.When I've moved to Europe from the US, we brought along many electrical and electronic equipments (stereo, 46" Samsung LCD TV, Vacuum cleaner, Carpet cleaner, Kitchen Aid and Cusinart, Breville kitchen appliances, alarm clocks, phone equipments, guitar amplifiers, etc.) So far two of these are acting up because of the frequency problem:The large green LCD alarm clock/radio from RCA is 20 minute late EACH hour(!), because it's clock freqvency depends on the frequency of the input voltage.Our 15 year old Onkyo stereo is acting up most likely because it was designed to run strictly on 110V/60Hz.So, before you decide to buy this transformer, check your voltage and frequency rating of your equipments, if it says 50/60Hz, you should be OK, but if it says strictly 60Hz and it is a frequency sensitive equipment, do your own research.

Best 2000 Watt on the Market

Delivers solid 220 in a 110 non-commercial outlet.What else you want. If you need a 50 Watt rated transformer it is easy to find what you need, but 2000 Watt? Not easy.This model includes spare fuses and adapter plug. * Not all units have the easy to remove and replace fuse in case of overloading. I suggest you check when shopping. However so far, no burnt fuses or overloads in my breaker, and definitely delivering enough load to run my motor at peak performance.I believe that is what electricians call 'steady load' or something. Anyways, I am no expert, I just buy what works, return what sucks, and share my experience with you.
