Very, Very Good Product

Just installed this on two entry doors. VERY, VERY GOOD PRODUCT. Installs easily, fits perfectly. Haven't "tried" it (and I wouldn't recommend you do either, unless you want a dented door, of course) but it absolutely tightens up the movement of the door when locked. I'm assuming it would have to work as expected in case of a breakdown.Three Gripes:1. The price is pretty high for two pieces of steel and some screws. Don't tell me you can't put a price on security, because they sure did.2. Wish, especially for the price, that they would give you a piece that ran the entire length of the frame for the hinge side.3. DON'T FREAK ON THE DIRECTIONS! Use common sense when installing. The directions make it sound WAY TOO HARD. Oh, and be careful of not hurting your weatherstripping if using a cordless drill.

Quality and security

I bought this after a rash of front door kick-in burglaries in my little town. I was aiming to strengthen the front door such that if someone wanted to kick it in, they'd at least have to do it more than once. So I needed something to beef up the door jamb. This product definitely does that!It is actually two thinner pieces of steel flat stock that have been shaped to fit on a standard door opening. To install, you simply remove the existing door jamb striker plate(s) and then stack the two pieces of the Door Reinforcer together along the jamb. Then simply drive the screws provided all the way into the studs behind the jamb. Seriously took 10 minutes to finish.Price seems a little high for what you get, I mean the materials here are pretty inexpensive. However the expense they've put into the paint and the clean machining of the parts is top notch. I definitely feel safer with it installed.

I bought this product from another retailer and to say I am impressed is an understatement. We had this installed with helpful advice from the manufacturers representative in our basement door by our local handyman. At first our handyman was very skeptical he didn't think he would be able to install it very easily but was able to get the Strikemaster II Pro installed with a new deadbolt lock in about an hour or less. I am so impressed with them I am getting two more and will install the others myself as that will be entirely in a wood frame. I certainly recommend this very well made product for anyone who is concerned about break ins as this clearly does strengthen a wood frame door at the jamb which usually breaks first with a kick in.
