Nice Boots

In the few weeks that I have had these boots, I've enjoyed them very much. They are form fitting but still allow you to tuck in your pants. You can also adjust how snug you want to wear them with the elastic string. The elastic string isn't very thick so the elasticity may wear over time. The side zipper is a plus for me getting in and out of the boots quickly. I live in a very cold and snowy place so I find I need to wear some thick socks to keep my feet really warm while walking through the snow. But on warmer days, 30 degrees +, I can wear regular socks. They are very comfortable, like wearing sneakers. The traction is good in the snow but not good on ice, so be aware of that. I ordered these a half size bigger but I wish now that I would have ordered my normal size. Even with thicker socks, I still have room. So I would say these are true to size. My friend ordered the same pair of boots and she said the same thing. All in all, I would recommend these boots to anyone looking for a nice looking pair of boots that are also practical for winter.

Nice boot with a few cons

I am a Merrell fan from way back. I wear Merrell shoes and boots for practically everything. These Encore Apex boots are nice looking, warm, and practical. They are comfortable, but they do not have as much support in the mid foot section as is the norm for Merrell. Also, the soles are not as supportive and sturdy as I would have liked, but with a firm insole, the problem is solved. Just be sure to order them large enough to accomodate an insole if you like a firm footbed and need a little more arch support that these boots have. They will do just fine for my needs, but I don't think I would buy another pair, as I have done for many other Merrell styles that worked well for me.

I love these boots, they are comfy and cute. I can wear a thick sock in my regular size! My feet are always cold and I was looking for something extra warm, I can't say that these are the warmest boots. I went ice fishing in PA and it was a bit above 32 degrees and sunny, I wore thick wool socks and for the first couple of hours I was really warm, with time however my toes did start getting cold and numb a bit. So I guess if you move around a lot you'll be fine but if you're out in the cold without much movement I would recommend warmers!
