Brenthaven is the BEST!

Bought an earlier version of this bag in 2002 and travelled the world and it has been great. Very functional and extremely well made. After 8.5 years, the top handle started to tear and the fabric attached to it opened to about 3 inches and started to shred near the tear. BUT . . . with their lifetime warranty, I made a claim even though I could not find my original receipt (in storage). They said they could not repair it and gave me an 80% discount on my next purchase.I had already bought the much improved 2011 version. So with the discount, I bought another for only 20% of the cost and am giving it to my niece. They just blew me away with how readily they stayed true to their word.I had the backpack before. But with the wheeled case ( I already received the one I bought), it's a lot less wear and tear on the joints walking around large terminals. This bag also has room for two large computers, both protected very well, and a lot more personal storage space, I always carry a change of clothes when traveling across the world and my much smaller backpack could get packed full with all my electronics (iPhone/iPad/Kindle/multiple hard drives/laptop/cords/etc.) this bag has a lot more room. And the two side pockets are much improved in location and functionality.This bag is a good value at full retail price. Any price less than that is an absolute steal. You pay for quality and you get quality. Regards.

First bag wasn't large enough, this one was. Good size, if it were larger I would just carry more stuff.

Nice, but too heavy for my liking

I have a 17" Macbook Pro, and have had trouble finding a good bag that fits. I wanted a wheeled case for those trips where walking long sprints through airport terminals gets tiring. This bag has great reviews and the warranty is superb.It has a super convenient design, allowing you to easily whip your computer out of a zippered area from the top, without much effort. It also has a nice feature that allows you to leave your computer in the bag and zip the compartment away to lie flat on the TSA conveyer belt. It's got nice pockets.My problem (and it's mainly my problem I realize) is that the bag is the size of a regular carryon. That's not what I was looking for. I looked at the measurements before purchasing, and comparing it to my regular carryon, I thought it would be smaller, and lighter. It's actually heavier than my normal carryon even when empty. While it's super convenient in design, it's just too big and too heavy. Also, the pull-out handle is very short. This is not the best situation for someone tall.If you don't mind a heavy case, or plan on taking your regular carryon to the plane with you, then you'll probably like this. But what I was looking for was a lightweight bag, with no overnight compartment, and just a small area for papers and files, and I don't think anyone makes that, at least not for a 17" computer.I think I'll return this bag and continue carrying my laptop on my shoulder, at least until I find something that meets my preferences better.Pros:Laptop compartment design - top removal is simpleWarrantySide pockets designTSA friendly designHeavy-duty zippersRear storage pocket is convenientCons:HeavyHandle too short (extends up only 34 1/2 inches from the floor)Too tall (21")Not a lot of room in the rear compartment, not a "true" overnighterRear compartment doesn't open up completely, making access uncomfortablePricey
