Dorman Replacement intake for Ford 5.4 leaking intake manifold

If the intake on your 5.4L Ford is leaking antifreeze, this is the way to fix it. From what I can tell, Dorman took the time to really research the problem and came up with a winner in this manifold. My son's 2000 F-150 developed a antifreeze leak late last fall, so he got some of that sealer in a can, which worked for a while. In the meantime I did some research of my own on the problem and found that 99% of the time the intake needed to be replaced. A quick search on Amazon turned up this little gem. It is actually a manifold kit, in that it includes everything you need when replacing an intake manifold, including a new thermostat (except for antifreeze). The o-ring style gaskets do a much better job of sealing the intake ports and coolant passages than the typical flat paper or metal shim gaskets, particularly on older, rougher surfaces. The manifold fit without any modifications, and the engine runs better and has slightly better performance due to Dorman enlarging the intake runners. The price (including shipping) also made this a winner, as the cheapest we found it locally was about $50 higher.

Excellent aftermarket intake manifold

Aftermarket Ford intake manifold is an excellent value, made in the US (except the bolts), and a great value compared to Ford part. Instructions on differences between installing the Ford manifold and this one could have had more details but figured it out after a couple of trys.
