Product Description
You prefer open-back headphones Using stiff titanium-plated drivers, the PRO 2900 will convince with its outstanding distinctive and accurate sound reproduction. The black PRO 2900 includes all latest Ultrasone technologies and promises sound professionalism. Due to its open-back design the most airy and transparent sound is guaranteed for everybody who does not wish a closed-back system. The PRO 2900 offers also speed-switch ear pads and detachable cables. ULE-technology PRO design-PRO headphones stand for Ultra Low Emission ULE-technology with significant benefits for professional users and PRO headphones show a specific design. The PRO appearance does not only distinguish the professional line but also allows due to more ear anatomy area a higher degree of transparency in combination with the spatial sense and understanding. To understand what ULE-technology does, you need to know that most headphone drivers produce low-frequency magnetic fields as they convert an electric signal into an acoustical signal you hear as music. In response, Ultrasone developed a special MU Metal shielding ULE-technology to reduce the radiation by up to 98 compared to current headphones. The ULE-technology has stood the test of international review and is recommended by technical surveillance organisations. Ultrasone originally developed the ULE-technology for professionals as they do spend half of their lives in headphones. But due to grand requests the ULE-technology has now been integrated in other Ultrasone headphone lines. S-Logic Natural Surround Sound-Through S-Logic Natural Surround, the sound moves out of your head and into the room around you. Consequently, the music is no longer confined, but breathing once again, spacious and organic. Direction and distance are more easily perceived its like being at a live concert or in the studio. No additional equipment is necessary.

An Enjoyable Departure from the PRO 2500
By P. Burdick
The PRO 2900 have a quickness, refinement and delicacy that are not part of their predecessor's (the PRO 2500) signature. Soundstage is well defined, with individual instruments/performers placed "to a tee" in vibrant, 3-dimensional space. Bass is denser, but still clean, extended and articulately sculpted. Even-handed frequency response and tonal sophistication round out the engaging sonic balance of Ultrasone's latest--and only--open offering. That said, the PRO 2900 do not have the raw, meatier texture of the PRO 2500--which I also happen to enjoy, and in some respects can sound ever-so-slightly-distant by comparison (to the 2500).While perhaps, respective to the comments above, representing a distinct departure from the "stock" or familiar "house" sound of the PRO 2500, the Ultrasone PRO 2900 nevertheless bring to the table a vivid and refreshing counterpoint just as technically adept and musically satisfying in their own right. After buying and auditioning the PRO 2900 alongside the PRO 2500, I have decided to keep them both. Kudos are in order for the "THE German Headphone Company": Well done! and Danke schoen!

Excellent with one wish for a change
By Christine C. Mednick
I'll be brief. I have high standards. I have much experience with audiophile headphones and equipment. But I was looking for something very specific that lead me to this purchase, I wanted an open headphone with low impedance for use with computer and iPod, and strong bass and good soundstage. Better headphones I've owned are: Grado 325i (sold because comfort issue but they sounded excellent and had decent bass), Sennheiser HD600 (sold and I regret it!, but was looking for something I could use with iPod without amp - lower impedance). Currently own Sennheiser HD598 (to replace the HD600s but with lower impedance, but not as good and not as comfortable), and AKG K550 (needed a closed can) and these are ultra-comfortable and sound great, but still not enuf bass. BUT I wanted something with more bass and that was open so when I am out fishing, hiking, in my yard, I can hear my surroundings. The Pro2900s are it. Burn them in and they sound the best of all headphones Ive used, and many twice it's price I've listened to. BUT they are not as comfortable as my other 2. IF the earcups were just a tad larger, I'd be 100% happy. That said, I cant wear them as long as the others. But the sound is superior, and I've got the bass I want (and it's not bloated or flubby). Soundstage is not a wide as I would like but only my HD600s with an amp ever achieved my standards. Would get 5 and a half stars if the earpads were as comfortable as the Sennheisers or AKG k550s. BTW, this Amazon account is under my wife's name, so the name above is not mine. I know some guys think a woman isnt as analytical about headphones, so you know a guy wrote this. A 50 year old guy with much music experience. But just for the record, my wife can clearly hear the difference between these headphones and non-reference or non-audiophile ones, and wouldn't take them off when we were watching s movie which they are great for as well.
