If you want fast shifting, you want the interface between the cable housing and the cable to be as slippery as possible. Gore's RideOn Professional Derailleur Cable System utilizes an entirely new cable coating that is specifically designed with road shifters in mind. A housing lubricant was developed in parallel with this coating, providing the lowest friction cable system to date. This is the latest addition to the RideOn cable line, which was reintroduced in 2007. The first go-round, the coating on the cable, an essential part of the system, was about 10 times thicker than it is currently. That made the earlier iteration less flexible and not as smooth-running inside the housing. This coating makes the cable little different than a standard derailleur cable, other than it's slickness.Gore coats the majority of the cable and that coated cable runs smoothly inside the lubricated derailleur housing. The first four inches of cable starting at the head are uncoated, in order for the derailleur cable to spool and unspool smoothly inside road shifters where the cable passes over the body of the hood. In addition, the cables are protected by Gore's Ultra-Long Nosed Ferrule - which protects the cables from the elements along the downtube and under the bottom bracket. Finally, Gore's GrubTM seals seal the ultra-long nosed ferrules to protect the cable within.RideOn Professional derailleur cables incorporate 4mm housing and will work with all SRAM Double-Tap road shifting systems, all Campagnolo 10- and 11-speed Ergo Levers, and both Shimano's internally-routed STI and old externally-routed STI road levers. They manage this by putting two different cable heads on each cable. One end has the Shimano/SRAM 4.4 mm diameter head, the other the Campy 4.0mm diameter head. Cut off the one you don't need. The system comes with 2050mm of lubricated 4mm cable housing, which you cut down with a cable cutter for your front and rear mechanisms. It comes with a 1900mm front derailleur cab

Gore Professional cable set

I bought gore proffessional cable set in order to fix cruddy shifting on my sram force equipped bike. The force seems to be affected by weather more than shimano and the gor cableset comes standard on red so i thought i would try it. It works flawlessly now. As far as the wet weather riding goes, I cannot comment on its sealedness, but will soon find out.
