Read this for what you should buy for the PERFECT tuning kit!

FYI REI.com currently has this item on sale for $38.I looked forever for a perfect ski tuning kit and there is just not one out there. They all seem to have overpriced junk in them and they sell for about $100 with the iron. For this product, the edge tuning tool I will probably be replacing in the future--my boyfriend says it scratches the bottom of the snowboards and it feels cheaply made (for now though, it works as promised). Also, the ptex that comes in this kit is not as good as the extra ptex we purchased from REI for ~$10. It also does not come with a diamond stone (it comes with just a hard stone). With this said, this kit is still a good value for all that you get. I have already saved tons of money on tuning our skis/snowboards. I was able to piece together my own full kit for about $110 using this kit and some other essentials.My kit includes:Continental electric CP43001 non-steam iron from Amazon (just search for 'non steam iron' -- this one is $25 vs. $45 for the ski tuning specific irons and serves the same purpose!!!!)Diamond stone ($10, also found on REI)3/4 lb extra wax ($21, Hertel super hot sauce on Amazon)4 extra ptex sticks ($10 REI and, as stated, better quality than ptex that comes in kit)Base cleaner (some citrus stuff at Walmart)A bag to hold everythingHope this helps and happy tuning!!!

This tuning kit contains everything you need to get a good at-home waxing on your ski or snowboard. Decent (not perfect) tools will get the job done quickly and effortlessly. Comes with black and clear P-tex for your deep scratches. If you don't have a special wax iron, put a uncrumpled layer of aluminum foul over your clothes iron. It will flatten out as soon as you start waxing your board.The plastic scraper is also great for scraping a light layer snow off your windshield in the morning.

Good for Starters

As somone who is just getting started this is a good kit, but now that I have use it a few times and kind of know what I am doing, there are several items in the kit that I would like to replace. The brass brush and rubbing stone are to small, the edger is not adjustible and the plastic scraper does not have a notch for your edges. Its a good way to get your feet wet, but if its something you would like to be looking for some nicer tools.
