From Silver Stags D2 Crown Series. Hand crafted in the Pacific Northwest D2 is an air hardening, high carbon, high chromium tool steel with high wear resisting properties. Usually reserved for use by custom knifemakers. Will hold up to extreme abuse in the field and still bounce back for more. Heat treated to a Rockwell of 60. Nothing bad to say in the least. A heavy, solid bowie knife made to WORK. It is pretty, but looks are deceitful, and this is no toy. Get one and you will not be disappointed.

This is my 3rd, and favorite, Silver Stag knife. Although beautiful, this is a knife meant for the field. This is a BIG knife. Fit, finish & workmanship is excellent. The blade is heavy and very sharp, I did some light chopping & cutting with it and it handled everything like a dream. It would be more than adequate for self defense. The D2 blade was back razor sharp after just a few swipes with a Smith's sharpener. My only gripe is that when I ordered, it was supposed to come with the upgraded laced leather sheath. Instead, I got a plain pouch sheath. Great knife, I highly recommend it.
