Easy solution to a difficult problem
By Jeffrey Wong
I love these.I have a flat roof, i.e., no attic. My house also has a low voltage lighting system that the well-heeled had installed in their homes in the 1950's--the light switches control relays in each ceiling box, which toggle on/off 110 V AC to the light fixtures. the system shorted out recently, coincident with roof replacement. The short's location is a mystery and most light switches do not work. 3 different fixes include:1. rip up the roof and find the short or rewire the house costing $15-20,000.2. install receivers and wireless switches costing at least $140 per room3. install wireless motion sensors costing from $22 to $85 per room.I chose #2 for my staircase. I installed a receiver in my staircase with a wireless switch at the bottom & one at the top. Instructions are easy to follow (I have a bit more DIY experience than most). the Leviton wireless self powered switches work well.Bot mine at another online source, but still...Thank you, Amazon
