Great for dander/allergy relief, but gives my pup horrible breath!
By Jiminikiz
I really like the nutritiousness of this brand and flavor of food. My Lab-Pit pup loves all food, so he devours this and anything else I feed him. My dog was experiencing some ever-worsening dandruff, flaking, and itching issues that seemed to get even worse with every passing day. After doing a lot of research, I read some reviews that suggested this brand and flavor for reducing these irritations. I have to say I am impressed with the results of feeding my pup this food, as it surely and severely reduced the dander issues; for that I am very thankful.Unfortunately, this food gives my dog terrible breath! I brush his teeth several times a week and give him "breath freshening treats", but to no avail. When I was feeding him Nutro, he did not have bad breath.I guess you win some, you lose some. I don't regret buying Blue Buffalo though, totally worth a healthy coat and happy, itch-free pup!

The last stop on the puppy food tour!
By Teahouse Fox
Little background - The Barkspawn came from the breeder with Taste of the Wild Grain-Free High Prairie Dry Puppy food, which he refused to eat. Then it was Blue Buffalo Wilderness Grain Free Chicken Recipe, which was better, but he still had to be coaxed into eating. He refused all variety of wet foods. I went on to try Canyon Creek Ranch Turkey & Barley Puppy, which while it was gobbled down, and he gained weight, had many ingredients that gave me pause. Next, Wellness CORE Puppy Formula - great, except that puppy's poop never quite firmed up.Which brought me here - Blue Buffalo makes one of the few puppy kibbles that is not based primarily on chicken, and the only one I've found with lamb. It seemed like a 180 to go from feeding my dogs a 100% grain free diet to one that featured oatmeal, but when you think about it, the little Barkspawn (a border collie) is likely descended from a long line of dogs who were raised and thrived on mutton, vegetables, hard tack and porridge, and would take no harm from oatmeal as a secondary ingredient.Sure enough, the Barkspawn has gobbled down three cups a day for the last two weeks and gained weight at a steady rate. Blue Buffalo is one of the higher quality foods and contains an excellent list of ingredients. Like he did on other high quality puppy kibble, he lets out a noxious fart every few days, but there are worse things in the world.Ingredients (from BlueBuffalo.com):Deboned Lamb, Oatmeal, Whole Ground Barley, Turkey Meal, Peas, Menhaden Fish Meal (source of DHA-Docosahexaenoic Acid), Whole Ground Brown Rice, Tomato Pomace (source of Lycopene), Canola Oil (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols), Natural Flavor, Flaxseed (source of Omega 3 and 6 Fatty Acids), Whole Potatoes, Sunflower Oil (source of Omega 6 Fatty Acids), Fish Oil (source of Omega 3 Fatty Acids), Alfalfa Meal, Whole Carrots, Whole Sweet Potatoes, Blueberries, Cranberries, Barley Grass, Dried Parsley, Garlic, Dried Kelp, Yucca Schidigera Extract, L-Carnitine, L-Lysine, Turmeric, Dried Chicory Root, Oil of Rosemary, Beta Carotene, Calcium Carbonate, Vitamin A Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Niacin (Vitamin B3), d-Calcium Pantothenate (Vitamin B5), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Biotin (Vitamin B7), Folic Acid (Vitamin B9), Vitamin B12 Supplement, Calcium Ascorbate (source of itamin C), Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Iron Amino Acid Chelate, Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Manganese Amino Acid Chelate, Copper Amino Acid Chelate, Choline Chloride, Sodium Selenite, Calcium Iodate, Salt, Caramel, Dicalcium Phosphate, Potassium Chloride, Dried Yeast (source of Saccharomyces cerevisiae), Dried Lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product, Dried Bacillus subtilis fermentation product, Dried Enterococcus faecium fermentation product

Miracle!
By Ambi Gah
My boxer puppy was a 1-year old when I first purchased this dog food, and he only weighed 52 pounds. His old food, Purina, was making his stool very loose, his coat was extremely dull, and I knew he just was not feeling okay. After two days on Blue Buffalo, his stools became regular. Within a week, I was getting compliments about about how shiny and healthy his coat is. After five weeks, which is how long the bag lasted for my puppy, he weighed 58 pounds, which means he gained over 10% of his body weight. I am so glad I purchased this food. It has been a miracle, and I will continue to be a Blue Buffalo customer for the rest of my Boxer's life. I am so grateful for what it has done for my puppy.
