Ridgid 27848 XF50 Quick Acting Vise combines the strength and durability of forged steel with the time and effort savings of our new Quick Action Trigger. XF50 vise includes an innovative Quick Action Trigger to quickly clamp and loosen objects. By just flipping the Quick Action Triggerthe jaws can easily slide into the desired position. This trigger significantly reduces the amount of time and effort when working with bench vises. The quick acting vise has a patented jaw alignment system which provides precise clamping and longer service life and the large capacity forged pipe jaws clamp pipe and rod securely. It features a 360 degree forged steel swivel base which allows for an infinite amount of adjustability. It has oversizedhardened jaws and anvil to provide greater clamping and working surfaces. It also features a steel handle with anti-pinch rings that offer increased strength and eliminate pinches.

Best in it's class

I spent two weeks on and off looking for a nice bench vise for my personal workshop. I've been spoiled with high end tools at both the universities I attended and my place of work. I quickly discovered that a quality forged steel bench vise can cost a fortune! On the other hand, the $99 ones I found at Home Depot and Lowes really weren't confidence inspiring. Chinese made castings with a poor quality finish.I stumbled upon the ridgid line of vises while on Amazon and took a gamble. I couldn't be happier with this vise.It's a quality product through and through. The quick adjust mechanism works as advertised and feels very solid, as does everything about this vise.It states on the product that it's assembled in Germany of both German and Polish parts - if that's important to you.You'll need three 1/2 bolts to secure it to your bench.

I did quite a bit of research on vises and felt this was the best bang for my buck. I was basically looking for something for my garage, but had already went through two cheapo cast vises and really wanted a well made forged vise. Wilton was my first thought, but I believe only there tradesman line are still forged steel and made in america (also a little out of my price range). My research finally led me to the ridgid. This is a 75000psi tensile strength, german made, solid hunk of steel! I haven't put it through a real test yet, but there is no doubt it will hold up. The only thing that concerns me is the quick acting mechanism. It is an awesome feature(allows you to quickly move the slide in and out without turning the handle), but imo more moving parts means more things can break. Overall, this was the best under $300 dollar tool I've bought in a long time.
