Sweep Second Hand Is Eye-Catching
By George E. Haak
This is my second purchase from the Bulova Precisionist series, and for those unfamiliar with this particular Bulova technology, the key is the smooth, sweep second hand; something not found in standard quartz movement. It's smooth movement is no less than mesmerizing, and because of its moderately large size, combined with a classy Bulova style, it tends to get people's attention. I have not had either of my Bulova Precisionist time pieces long enough yet to attest to their accuracy, but Bulova claims that this series of watches "is accurate to 10 seconds a year".Comparing my two Bulova Precisionist time pieces (my other is the 96D110), the watches themselves are quite comparable; they both are relatively heavy, but have a very "solid" feeling to them. The difference, while quite subjective, seems to be in the respective bracelets. The bracelet of the 98B140, subject of this review, just does not seem to have quite the "solid" feeling as that on the 96D110. Then again, the price of the 98B140 is less. But again, the main reason I love the Bulova Precisionist series is the sweep second hand.I'm by no means a knowledgeable watch collector (yet), but I know what I like ... and I love the look of this watch!

The "Utility Infielder" for any collection
By Ralph Audubon
The previous reviewer who described the weight and solid feel of this watch was right on the mark. This is a substantial timepiece. Bulova's Precisionist movement is a marvel of quartz accuracy and simply cannot be beat at this price point (and by that I mean below $2,000). I consider this watch (98B140) to be the "utility infielder" of my collection. When in doubt, I know I can wear this watch with either casual or dress clothes. I can also wear it with silver or gold belt buckles, cufflinks (etc.) as the bracelet is a very attractive two tone gold/silver styling. I can also "grab and go" without checking the time, knowing that the watch is super accurate. This is a great watch for any man, but it is a particluarly great watch for the man on a budget. I strongly suspect that the latter will keep this watch in his collection long after he buys a "luxury timepiece." I know I will.

Pretty accurate Dress/Casual watch
By CShooter
I love Bulova Precisionist line of watches. Like most Bulova watches, this one has a unique design & features. The curved crystal is what really sets it apart for me from the rest of Bulova, and other brands watch's. Accuracy in my experience based on three Precisionist watch's, is not quite as good as claimed, but pretty close, way better than your average watch. Where some of my watch are losing a few seconds a month, and others are gaining, Precisionist stays within two seconds of my atomic radio controlled Casio's. That in itself is worth the price in my book, but it does not end there. Precisionist line also has a continuously sweeping second hand, and it is so mesmerizing to look at. Before Precisionist came out, you would've had to spent a few times as much to get similar kind of movement. The watch is under-designed to be a dress watch, it's simply too plain looking to be dress type, but it makes a great casual watch & the price fits casual category as well. The only glow in the dark accents the face of this watch has, are located on hour & minute hands, which makes this watch not so great in the dark, since it's harder to figure out what time it. The bands are solid, but are showing some wear as normal. Pondering whether to wear my recently purchased used Claremont to work, and as to how well it would hold up. Over two years of delivery & distribution, my Casio has gained wear marks and a few scratches, but still looks good for a work watch. Wonder if Bulova Precisionist would hold up to that type of everyday punishment. I guess only one way to find out...
