Great Tool

This is a great tool for trouble-shooting electrical problems in a car. I have used it on my Mazda 6 and one of my kids cars. Once you get a good foundation for understanding how to efficiently use these tools they save you from hours of frustration with just a multimeter. The videos and PDF files that accompany these tools are done in way that make it easy to understand how to efficiently use the tools. They try to show a typical situation in a real world environment. The Power Probe is really useful, however...

This kit bundles the Power Probe III with their lead kit, a good assortment of adapters, and their ECT2000 short circuit finder kit. The Power Probe III, all by itself, allows you to find open circuits, short circuits, power, ground, continuity (or lack of it), and voltage present - either positive or negative. It also permits applying power or ground to a circuit or device to test it for function. A great tool. The short finder, however, doesn't seem able to distinguish between a dead short and a light bulb filament, even after desensitizing it using the appropriate control. Only after removing all light bulbs in the affected section of the wiring harness did the ECT2000 actually point in the direction of the short. I suppose one might develop better skills with the ECT2000 after lots of practice. But given the intuitive controls on the Power Probe III and its many uses, I'd purchase only the Power Probe III and the lead kit in combination if I were to make the decision again.

Hello. I do alot of electrical work on cars and I am used to using a test meter and tast light to troubleshoot. I wanted something different and easier to use. So I tried the Power Probe III Master Combo Kit. After I received the kit I tried it on a car I had to repair some wiring from a previous installation that someone else did. It would have taken me a day or two find all of the issues. In just 5 hours I had all of the wiring issues fixed and I am very much impressed on how quick and easy the tool was to use. It made that job very easy and quick for me. I would buy this again if I had to. For me and the work I do it is very useful and now it is hard to do with out it. Now I am trying to find even more ways to use it. I can say that it paid for it self the first day I used it. I can go on and on about it but: If you need an all in one diagnostic tool this may be the one for you! I hope it is, and you are as happy as I am about your investment!
