These 500 LED video panel uses the 500 ultra bright, 5500K LED's and has an equivalent output of 500 watts of incandescent light yet draws about 100 watts. The 5500K daylight balanced LEDs offer a full spectrum, beautifully soft light.LED lights off significantly further "throw" than a comparable fluorescent light. This is because each of the 1000 LED lights has a 30 degree beam angle lens that directs light forward. This beam angle creates a beam pattern that is useful from 1 - 15 feet.LED lights are ideal for location work because they are virtually shockproof and offer the brightest light in the smallest form factor.

Excellent lights for the price...

I've been looking around for some good LED video lights for a while, and these caught my eye so I decided to pick them up and see how they perform.They're meant to be a common temperature around 5600k (they state 5500k), and while I didn't measure the exact amount they were close to some other 5600k lights I have. I didn't notice the green shift that I saw with some of the earlier LED lights I purchased in the past, but that can easily be corrected with a filter (at the cost of some lumens).It's important to point out that these lights, like most LED's, are very directional and don't really put out the same kind of light as you'd typically expect. While they're very bright to look out, they fall off quickly - not enough to be unusable, but you're not going to be overwhelmed by light either.They are adjustable with switches on the back to turn off 'banks' of LED's (basically just interleaved rows) - you have 4 switches, so you can do 100%, 75%, 50% and 25%. In use, I never used anything other than 100%, but I could see it might be handy. The case itself is well built, and I ran them all for two days straight just to see if the color shifted or the output dropped, and they looked exactly the same and also didn't heat up appreciably.The stands, on the other hand, are pretty much the cheapest you could buy - they get the job done and are relatively stable, but that's more because the lights are light and not because they are particularly well constructed - I will probably be buying more of these lights, but I will more than likely buy them without the stands in future. This is really such a non-issue for me I can't even deduct a star for it (maybe a half-star).If you're planning on these being your only lights, and trying to do something like a 3-point lighting setup, then I would recommend getting the larger 1000 LED lights, since I think these are a bit underpowered for that kind of use.Either way, this package is a great deal for the money, very pleased.

Shoddy workmanship

I tested only one lamp briefly, then put it right back in the box for return. The lamp has a handle on the back for easy lifting. When I picked it up, the handle separated on one end and a screw came loose, falling inside the lamp housing. Strike one. The lamp stand has loose springs inside it that rattle around like a toy. Strike two. The light given off by the lamp is surprisingly dim and very blue. Strike three. Back it goes.This thing was falling apart even as I was lifting it from the box. The instruction sheet is written in really bad broken English. This is a shoddy import. When I pay hundreds of dollars, I expect excellence. I didn't get it here.AVOID.

Purchased this set of 3 lights after a great review on . They are great quality, nice white light, and cool. I love the small footprint and the lights have handles on them as well. Great deal. Am looking forward to using them for my video work.
