A light-weight, waterproof and warm jacket
By Keith Travels
This is a great softshell Jacket which I've used as a midlayer jacket traveling in Europe in January. Typically good Helly Hansen quality construction and materials.PROS====- Light-weight - I wear a Small and it weighs 600 grams (1.32 pounds) perfect for my travels.- Waterproof - the outerlayer is fantastic and has better waterproof properties than my previous softshell jacket. Caught in a rainshower the water beaded off the exterior nicely (for about an hour) until it became a downpour and even then when the exterior material appeared saturated, the inside was perfectly dry.- Windproof and Warm - this jacket is surprisingly warm compared with the Macpac softshell jacket it replaced. Active walking in 7-15° Celsius (44-59°F) weather with a only cotton t-shirt underneath saw me sweating. Which brings me to:- Breathability - I found it to be ok in this department, but I really heat up in this softshell jacket if I exerted moderately, and there was a reasonably moisture build-up underneath and I had to open the zip up to regulate the moisture and heat. I wouldn't use this jacket as a running top!- Soft and comfy - The inside of the jacket is like a soft micro-fleece material. When I wear a short sleeve T-shirt under it, the sleeves feel like I was wearing a thin fleece top rather than a jacket.STYLING=======- Collar - Might not be to everyone's liking but I like the stand-up collar that doesn't flop down on one side like a lot of other softshell jackets do. The inside of the stand-up collar that cocoons your neck is the same material as the outer layer rather than the soft micro fleece of the jacket interior, but it is quite soft and comfortable to wear against skin.- Pockets - the zippers have textured pull tabs that are similar to the tabs on Osprey backpacks. The pockets have a flap of material covering the zippers so that when closed the zips aren't so noticeable.- Logos - This particular Helly Hansen softshell has minimal placement of logos with "H/H" on the left breast side and "Helly Hansen" running from the shoulder to the elbow on the left hand sleeve. I noticed in the womens' model the logo in the black jacket was subdued, but in the mens' model the logo is white stitched thread and in my opinion a bit ostentatious - I've since fixed this on my jacket by coloring in the white thread with permanent black ink, and it's now much more to my liking.BUGBEARS (not really cons)========- Might be Tight - It is a close-fitting jacket and can be tight in the arms/chest, compared with other softshells like the Macpac jacket I bought it to replace, or the perennial North Face Apex Bionic Softshell which are roomier and not so figure hugging in the same size.- Sleeve cinch tabs - these are a "non Velcro" hook and loop closure system, with the hook parts being small plastic nubs that aren't quite hooks like with standard Velcro. This means that they don't accidentally catch on other clothing as the velcro hooks sometimes do. But the downside is that it doesn't take much for them to become detached and the cinch tab flaps around annoyingly. Standard Velcro styled hooks would have been superior.- Pockets - The inside of the pockets are a mesh material, which is comfortable and cuts down on the weight, but may questionable when you're putting electronics like a smartphone / camera in them and you end up moderately exercising and there is a moisture build up underneath the jacket. Still, only nitpicking now.Overall, a perfect water-resistant, windproof and lightweight softshell Jacket with a good build quality.

Great lightweight jacket with durable soft shell
By M. G.
I owned the paramount vest for a year before investing in this jacket. Yes; investing, Helly Hansen jackets can be expensive when not on sale but are well designed and constructed and worth the money. The jacket is a nice athletic fit (slim). The black is truly black and the soft shell resists light rain and mist. The chest pocket adds a nice touch. Interior is a soft and comfortable. I wear this jacket when its 50-65 out and sometimes when its warmer just because I like the look!

I'm not sure of the issue with the cuff velcro
By Demanding Liberty
Lots of reviews all over the internet complaining about the cuff velcro things. They aren't velcro, but mine have worked fine.Great coat, and IMHO, a better alternative to the "bigger names" at the big box stores.
