Certified for use in radiant floor heating applications.3/4" PEX Tubing with Oxygen Barrier is the most popular size for all snow melt projects. According to RPA Standard Guidelines, 500ft is the recommended circuit length for the 3/4" Oxygen Barrier PEX Tubing, when used for radiant floor heating applications. For snow melt applications, 300ft length is considered more appropriate.

Saves time and money

I have an old house with baseboard heating, and the piping was modified by a previous homeowner is some "unusual" ways. It was a mix of copper, galvanized and black iron pipe. I wanted to re-route some of the pipes in a more sensible path, and accommodate some renovations I was doing. My choices were copper or PEX. Copper was $17 for a 10' piece at 3/4", plus the work of sizing, cutting, soldering, etc. I chose this PEX instead, mainly for the cost. $0.47 per foot over $1.70 per foot. I used the Sharkbite fittings Cash Acme U016A Shark Bite Push-Fittings Straight Coupling, 3/4-Inch to connect the PEX to the old copper, and they worked great together! The PEX was surprisingly stiff coming off the roll, you might want to have two people to work it, but it was easy to route, the connections were amazingly easy and there were no worries about leaks. I was able to drain the system, cut out the old pipe, hang and connect the PEX and have the heating back up and running in a day by myself. I am incredibly happy as the PEX saved me a lot of time and money.
