Brass Wood Screw, Round Head, Phillips Drive Product Description:

  • Wood Screws are designed for wood applications
  • Brass is suitable where corrosion resistance is a primary consideration
  • Round head style for a finished appearance
  • Phillips drive is designed to cam out under too much torque

Product Description

Wood screws are designed to attach two pieces of wood together. They generally feature a smooth, unthreaded shank below the head which ensures a tight attachment, and the threaded portion of the shank is tapered to increase the holding power. Threads specially designed for use in wood effectively resist pulling out.

Brass is rust proof, corrosion resistant and polishes to a rich, golden color. Brass is easily soldered and brazed and accepts plating readily. The typical composition is 70% Copper and 30% Zinc. Strength increases with a higher percentage of Zinc.

Round head fasteners have a dome-shaped head. An older style of head, it is typically used when replacing existing round-head fasteners where an exact match is desired. The Phillips drive style was originally designed so that the driver would slip out under extreme torque, preventing over-tightening and damage to the fastener or the material.

5brass screws #8 x 1"
By yondan20
Bought these for window jambs, as raised (round head) screws are better than flat head screws for this purpose. These are perfectly serviceable but they are not "bright" brass, if that's what you are looking for.

3Worked for my project, just not that tough...
By J. Brooks
I needed to attach some sawtooth picture frame hangers to some picture frames (obviously) and these worked fairly well. The reason I say they worked fairly well is because I had some issues with them. First off they didn't want to screw into the material at all, so I had to pre-drill all of the holes. Not a big issue, just another step I didn't want to have to do.The second issue I had with them, brittle. I broke seven screws while attaching the sawtooth hangers, basically every other screw broke when I was tightening them down (by hand of course). So overall, for the price they aren't that bad of a screw, just be prepared to pre-drill all of the holes and don't even try to over tighten them.Pros:Cheap.Cons:Somewhat brittle.Did not want to screw into the wood without pre-drilling the holes.
